I was a little apprehensive when I ordered it not really knowing how they would attach, I was thinking tape or something, but they snap on very well, and haven't seemed like they are going to come off. I've been playing GTA4 for about an hour now, and using the triggers for driving wasn't my favorite thing to do, but now its much much easier. I haven't got to try them with any other game yet, but if this trial run was any hint it seems like they will never come off my wholesale video game accessories.
As a bonus, and to justify spending $9.99 for a dollars worth of plastic, they included a metal piece that slips over the top of the controller. So I hired Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance on PC last night and I thought it would be a good idea and see if I could use my PS3 controller with it and what do you know, you can.By going to this site and following all the instructions exactly, you can connect up the PS3 controller and have it recognised as a gamepad under Windows XP. That's great I thought, now I can play MGS2....er....no, turns out that MGS2 was configured to run using a PS2 controller attached to the PC not a ps3 accessories which meant that all the buttons were mixed up.So I dug around in the game folder and found the .ini files that allow you to configure what buttons are attached to what action. It doesn't do anything really but add a little flare to your controller. It makes the start, select, and PS button recessed, but they are still accessible and take a little getting used to.3 hours later after a lot of very tedious, mind numbing and frustrating trial and error I managed to get all the buttons mapped the right way.I don't really expect anyone to use this as most people who are interested in the series would have already played MGS2. This is for late comers like me, who played a couple of the demos but didn't have any of the previous consoles to be able to play the playstation 3 accessories .
I'm starting with MGS2 and probably come back for 3 after I've finished 4 which comes out on the 12th of June. Overall I think its definatly worth the money if you don't like the lower triggers on the ps3 controller . Also I'd like to thank Brainderailment for originally posting the website picture of these that got me interested.
Oh wow this game has bugs to the moon and back, and Konami (the publisher) hasn't done a single thing about them since they released the game back in 2003. The game crashes at certain points in the game if I inflict one ounce of hurt on the bad guys in the level (worked this out after repeating the same mission 10 times only to have it crash as I achieved the objective) The level is the Strut F part of the game, if I kill or tranquilize anyone while in that area it crashes when you try to leave. This would be fine if I didn't have to escort someone very slowly through a later level.
